Space World Group, a fibre assets company, plans to connect 35 data centres in seven major Indian cities, entailing an investment of $500 million through its new ventures called Constl and Ranext, co-founder Ankit Goel said.
Insiders said that over the past few weeks Ericsson and South Korea's Samsung were locked in a fierce duel that resulted in the Swedish vendor bagging the plum 4G/5G gear supply contract from Vi for Delhi.
The move came after Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) asked telcos to blacklist and disconnect unregistered telemarketers.
It also plans to deploy multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) technology, instead of the earlier GPON, albeit nine years after it had first been suggested by an expert panel that included past Nasscom presidents Kiran Karnik and Som Mittal.
