Bolstered by the recent equity funding, Vodafone Idea (Vi) has paid its entire statutory dues of about ₹700 crore for the April-June quarter, including the licence fee and spectrum charges, on time to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), a first for the beleaguered telecom operator in more than two years.

Ahmed Essam, CEO of European Markets at Vodafone, said: “With this agreement and our merger with Three, we will transform the mobile experience for over 50 million customers in the UK for the long-term, providing significant network improvements including more choice, better quality, and greater coverage across the country.”
In a separate announcement, Nokia disclosed its intention to sell Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) to the French State for an Enterprise Value of €350 million, while retaining a 20% shareholding initially.
